Devon Beaches

One of the lovely things about bringing your dog to Devon is being able to enjoy walking on the beach. Whilst many Councils have restrictions about dogs, particularly from May to September, there are still many beaches where dogs are welcome. Click here for more information on dog friendly beaches.

Exeter

The small city of Exeter lies approximately 16 miles to the East of The Barn and is one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England. It has a wonderful shopping centre and many other visitor attractions which include, it's unique Underground Passages, a magnificent Cathedral, a lovely Quay where you can hire bikes and ride the Exe Trail or visit one of the many restaurants and bars in this very fashionable part of the city.

The Miniature Pony Centre at Bovey Tracey

Located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, the Miniature Pony Centre is the perfect day out for all the family. Open from 21 March to 29 October, children can stroke and cuddle the ponies and their foals in the paddock, visit the rabbits in pet's corner or explore the children's outdoor or indoor play areas. There is the Paddock View Café for refreshments and visit the Gift Shop for treats for all the family.

The House of Marbles

The House of Marbles is situated on the edge of Bovey Tracey and families are able to visit free of charge with ample parking. Visit the glass works and have a bird's eye view of glass blowing from the gallery. On the first floor is the amazing marble run, one of the biggest in the world. There is also a great gift shop selling ladies clothes, confectionery, premium gifts and fine furniture. Visit one of the three museums showcasing a 4000 year history of glass, board games, marble runs and bagatelles from as early as the 1600’s and a rich history of pottery making on the House of Marbles site. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea as well as tea and coffee are served in the café whilst outside there is children’s play area.

Haldon Forest

With 3,500 acres of woodlands, 4 walking trails, 5 cycle trails, Go Ape, Go Segway picnic areas and bike hire, Haldon Forest Park, just a 15 minute drive from Exeter is a great day out for families of all ages.
